AMBERLEY CUPBOARD BY SJOERD VROONLAND FOR REVISED

https://www.sjoerdvroonland.com/amberley-collection-for-revised/
The AMBERLEY CUPBOARD appeals to me because of the dialogs between legacy craft, high-tech innovation and modern day living. This is done by engaging all the senses by applying generous loving attention to detail in shape, material and touch. This design really gives me inspiration for my own exam piece.

innovative; his thinking about architecture and social circumstances

useful; his way of thinking makes his designs more useful.

thorough down to the last detail; he is curious, he researches and analyses which are key points to this principle.
useful; the books speak to a lot of people.

unobstrusive; the books are machine made she doesnt like the look of handmade books that distracts it form the contents.

aesthetic; the books are filled with text and photo's which are easthetic to the eye.

easthetic; the buildings look really cool and give inside to what kind of density it is surrounded by.

innovative; this company is really looking for ways to encourporate space into their designs. by stacking buildings you leave more open space on the ground.
easthetic; the way products sometimes look feel like they can influance how stuff tastes.

unobstructive; the cups looks like it would hold coffee this is how their always related to each other.

innovative; by building a train station there they were selling more coffee but then in paper cups.
6.My reflection video
the woodjoints used in this desing;

- lamello's are used inbetween the left/right and the middle shelf.
- the doors are sliding on a track because of the grove they have.
- the legs are turned wood and are connected by either a pen or a dowel.
the wood techniques used in this design;

- this cabinet is made of solid wood and veneer on multiplex.
- the doors look like they are made of slats on both sides that are connected by textile in between.
- this cabinet is sanded and fisnished with an transparant oil.
- what i really like about this cabinet is how soft it looks and i eally wanna research that for my own piece.

the links to this design are;

- the desing is curved and that makes it looks soft.
- because of the shape of this design it indicates that it is hand made wich makes it look more interesting.
- the cabinet looks like it has a lot of space and by seeing the inside this thought is valid the cabinet allows for a lot of storage.
- because of the use off one kind of wood the cabinet has a tight and clean look its not distracting or an eye sore.
- this piece has givin me a lot of inspiration for my own exam ideas.

In this video I will be asking my classmate some questions about what he has learned this school period and what ideas he has for his exam next year.
how is it made?;

- the top and bottom of this piece are made from solid oak wood. what he has done is made an extantion by glueing together multiple planks to make one big one.
the top piece has been routert to give it one higher edge.
- the rest of the cabinet is made of multiplex covered in oak veneer.
- the wooden legs are turned oak a technique i would like to learn in the future.

the questions I asked:
- what was the most informative subject theory assignment for you?
- what principle for good design speaks most to you?
- what kind of techniques did you research and why?
- what was your design that appaeled to you?
- what did you learn from this design?
- is there anything that you have done so far in this assignment that has givin you some ideas or insipration for your exam year?

the questions I got asked:
- what assignment did you like and wich one did you dislike and why?
- what is your highest principle of design when looking at your own style of furniture you've made so far?
- what research did you dor for the techniques and why did you do those?
- the design that appaeled to you does that connect with the techniques you researched?
- what ideas do you have for your exam project?
The techniques i wanna research are about the sliding tambour doors how do they work and what materials do i need to use.
I also wanna learn more about what kind of finishes are good for furniture and what the pros and cons are.
the last thing i wanna research is how the cnc machines work and what programs they use.
